Scholarships for Annual Conference or Regional Symposia

The events of 2020 accelerated our plans to build a broader, more accessible Virtual Professional Development Program featuring everything from a Lunch & Learn session to a full, multi-day Virtual Conference.

General Scholarship Information

The American Public Gardens Association awards full- and partial scholarships and registration fee waivers for selected in-person and virtual professional development thanks to the generosity of donors.

Our Garden Scholars full-scholarship program for in-person events is on hold to the continuing impacts of COVID-19 limiting on-site events.

With the introduction of a Virtual Professional Development program, Members in good standing may apply for a Garden Scholar Fee Waiver for selected virtual events such as workshops, symposia, and the Annual Conference.

Garden Scholar Fee Waiver Program

In 2018 we introduced a Garden Scholars program providing full-package scholarships to attend in-person Symposia and the Annual Conference. Scholarships are 100% funded through gifts from individual members, corporate and institutional donors.

The events of 2020 caused the Association to pivot to create a new, Virtual Professional Development Program featuring everything from a Lunch & Learn session to a full, multi-day Virtual Conference. Through a virtual platform we are now able to reach a greater number and diversity of our membership with professional development opportunities at all levels of learning.

To that end, we have broadened our Garden Scholars program to include a virtual scholarship option in the form of Garden Scholar registration Fee Waivers for virtual workshops, Symposia, and Annual Conferences when they occur. These will be offered on an as-available basis to qualified applicants who are Members in good standing, and awarded strictly at the sole discretion of the Association.

If you are interested in supporting a scholarship or underwrite a waiver for a member in financial need, please donate to the Garden Scholars Fund, and thank you!
