Pittsburgh, PA – March 27, 2024 – The Institute of Museum and Library Services announced today that Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is among 30 finalists for the 2024 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. Phipps Conservatory is the only institution in Pennsylvania to be selected as a finalist for this award.
The National Medal is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that demonstrate significant impact in their communities. For 30 years, the award has honored institutions that demonstrate excellence in service to their communities.
Through its seasonal flower shows, education programs, events, and more, Phipps Conservatory strives to demonstrate that human and environmental health are inextricably connected and to help its guests ensure that these critical interconnections are harmonious, mutually beneficial, healthy, and preserved for future generations. In recent years, the Conservatory has expanded its impact to the global museum, garden, and zoo community through its Climate Toolkit project, a network of 158 institutions serving more than 77,900,000 annual visitors who seek to work together to serve the environmental health needs of their communities and ecosystems and inspire their guests and supporters to follow their lead.
