As gardens across North America are recovering from natural disasters including hurricanes and wildfires, it is important to consider collections coverage and security. The network of gardens across the continent and world serves as a safety net for plant species facing extinction. To implement The North American Botanic Garden Strategy for Plant Conservation, BGCI and partners are conducting strategic ex situ gap analyses of North American plants as potential collection priorities for gardens. In addition to sharing the gap analysis results and species priorities, this presentation will also highlight the ways garden staff can use information available to them to assess gaps and priorities for their own collections.
