Granting ownership and autonomy instills a sense of pride and generates institutional loyalty among staff members. The panel will explore how institutions can benefit from these gains while having confidence that each employee is working to advance the institutional mission. Panelists will discuss the balance of mission and staff empowerment from a variety of perspectives, including a departmental level, a complex staff structure, and a garden that is part of a greater institution. Panelists will illustrate their own effective methods for creating a healthy sense of staff ownership while meeting and establishing accountability to preserve the mission.
