This Manual serves several purposes. The initial and basic intention is as a means of documentation: to put into print for the first time the Arboretum’s meticulous procedures related to inventorying living plants. Thus, it becomes a resource for staff to use as they carry out their day-to-day work. Also, because it is a document unique in the public garden community, it also can be used as a resource by peer institutions.
