It would not be uncommon to think that administering a garden, or any other business, is simply a matter of shuffling papers to keep everything flowing and people working. This may be true, but it is the least of the duties of a public garden administrator. The good administrator is the visionary leader, the creative force behind the organization and the person who makes the garden rise and shine as an important part of today’s society. It is the person who keeps the organization together in trying times as well as in good times and the person who keeps the spirit of the garden alive among the staff, visitors, owners and the public.
