Job Description 

The MN Landscape Arboretum, 2019 Best Botanical Garden (USA Today readers), is seeking a Web Content Specialist. This position will realize a new web strategy and multipurpose site. This valuable team player understands the digital marketplace and will regularly build and publish website content that meets the Arboretum’s established brand standards, and its strategic goals to grow annual visits as well as membership. You will collaborate daily with other team members across the organization to create -- and condense -- content to ensure timely publication across multiple digital communication channels. Exercise strong attention to detail to ensure guests have access to accurate and comprehensive event and garden information. Additionally, you will stay apprised of industry digital marketing trends, demonstrating expertise and implementing best practices in your daily work.

Duties & Responsibilities 

Create and Publish Web Content 70%

Utilizing Drupal technology, and corresponding web themes provided by the University of Minnesota, adapt and evolve the Arboretum’s web content, layouts, styles, features and functionalities to reflect the Arboretum’s status as a premier northern garden.
Lead an internal process among content contributors across departments to strategize and plan for the systematic migration of content to a new Drupal website.
Improve and evolve user experience of Arboretum website, including support of navigational tools that visitors can use on personal devices.
Identify and suggest new strategies, tools and digital solutions to enhance and support the customer experience by listening to the needs of internal (and external) constituents.
Responsible for contributing quality content for the website, as well as editing content from others, that will attract visitors to the Arboretum’s website.
Engage in U web/Drupal community to participate in ongoing training opportunities and to build strategic relationships with our home College (CFANS).
Problem solve web issues as they arise. Analyze web traffic, share results with team and make recommendations on how to maximize customer engagement.

Project Management 20%

Work to continuously improve and evolve how we deliver and manage our web presence staying current with trends in web design and development, regularly assess processes, and make recommendations to improve efficiency.
Contribute to overall team planning efforts, helping to prioritize work and provide accurate estimates on completion of projects.
Provide competent customer service, working with team members to troubleshoot issues as they arise, and thinking critically to ask for the information you need.
Edit and proofread content created by others for usability, organizational content, readability, and appropriateness for intended audience. Be a self-starter to suggest and make changes to enhance documentation.
Provide backup support for organization’s Salesforce e-Communications strategy and regular email content to our members.

Miscellaneous Duties 10%

Attend and participate in pertinent staff and project meetings as requested.
Keep current on internal web requests, all email and staff communications, necessary trainings, and other Arboretum related opportunities.
Occasional onsite event support, as needed.

Education and Experience 

BA/BS degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field plus 2 years professional experience
or
6 years combined equivalent education and experience
Web design experience to include Drupal CMS
Knowledge of accessible website design
Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal collaboration skills
Team partnership skills, passion for bringing people together, organizing content and supporting winning teams
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service and problem solving
Proficient in MS Office, Google Suite Adobe Communications Suite and strategic use of social media
Experience in Google Analytics, SEM and SEO
