Grounds Crew Technician: Non-Exempt, Regular Part Time – 30 hours/wk. Entry-level position that reports to the Arboretum Manager.

This entry-level position reports to the Arboretum Manager and is a great way to learn more about Arboretum maintenance, horticulture, and would be perfect for someone considering a career in public gardens and/or horticulture!
The Grounds Crew Technician will be responsible for the maintenance of the horticulture collections and natural areas, with a focus on turf, trails and winter meadow maintenance. Additional responsibilities include equipment maintenance and Arboretum events. If you are the right person – with a strong work ethic - this position could be flexible to your needs: Part-time or Seasonal!
- Learn how to maintain turf, trails and natural areas in excellent horticultural and aesthetic condition with a variety of equipment.
-Work with a tight-knit crew of horticulture professionals to learn the maintenance of grounds, equipment and support tools.
-Learn how to maintain all structural elements in the landscape, including fence repairs, directional signs, pond maintenance and water courses, road and walk surfaces.

Preferred bachelor’s degree in horticulture, environmental science, or a strong interest in those fields, or a currently enrolled student in a similar program.

-Valid State issued motor vehicle operator's license and insurability
- Supportive and collaborative environment with horticulture professionals from varying backgrounds.
-General work on the Arboretum’s grounds
-Requires frequent and prolonged equipment use, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pulling, twisting and climbing.
-Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds
-Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
