Taylor Conservatory Foundation and the Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
The Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is a statewide and regionally recognized public garden in Taylor, Michigan. Named one of the top 12 Botanical Gardens by Pure Michigan in 2019, the Foundation is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization incorporated in the State of Michigan in 2005.
Our Mission is creating beautiful public spaces, promoting the arts and sciences, and preserving our natural environment. We promote positive community interaction and outcomes with programs designed for a multitude of social, educational, and environmental needs.
The Foundation seeks an effective leader for the position of Executive Director (ED). The ED is responsible for the overall management of the Taylor Conservatory Foundation and the Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, and the implementation of its mission.
The Executive Director should have proven and demonstrated experience in fundraising, fund development, and marketing as well as the experience and ability to create and maintain corporate and community sponsor and donor relationships. Experience in indoor/outdoor event planning and venue rentals is desired. The Executive Director will lead community engagement through education and events.
The successful candidate will report to and collaborate with the Board of Directors to identify, develop, and execute the organization’s strategic objectives, financial and budgeting goals, and programming initiatives.
The Executive Director is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of botanical garden activities within the Conservatory by effectively directing and managing the organization through strategic planning, and direction of staff, committees, and volunteers to ensure successful activities and events throughout the year.
The ED will positively represent the Gardens and Foundation by attending professional conferences, making presentations, conducting tours, directing educational outreach and the production of special events.
The Executive Director assumes the highest level of responsibility and directs the garden’s team.
Fund development, marketing and promotional skills are desired with a focus on social media.
A Bachelors or Associates degree in Horticulture Business Management, Administrative Business Management, or Non-Profit Management is desired, however, Candidates with the equivalent executive or managerial experience will be considered.
The Executive Director should have strong written and oral communication skills, exceptional time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet objectives within required deadlines.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and database management.
