Longwood Gardens is seeking a temporary Social Media Content Editor on a part time basis, working approximately 20 hours per week both on-site and remotely and with a one-year commitment.
This position is responsible for creating holistic stories and campaigns for all social media platforms in alignment with our marketing objectives and social media strategy. In this role you will bring ideas to life by curating imagery, writing copy, and producing occasional videos. You will support our Senior New Media Marketing Specialist’s management of social media strategy for the organization and collaborate with a talented and skilled Marketing and Communications team. Responsibilities include developing social media content, writing strong copy in a differentiated voice and tone per platform that connects with various defined audiences; creating visual assets, including photos, gifs, and videos; curating images from an existing photo library and coordinating with volunteer photographers to procure new images; and handling fact-checking and approvals for content. This individual will produce content based on an established editorial calendar, providing creative input to inform future campaigns, and will act as a brand steward by ensuring brand consistency and factual accuracy.
Minimum qualifications for this position include two years of experience working in social media marketing or a related field, excellent written and oral communication skills, fluency in Adobe Creative Suite and video production software, strong photography skills, and strong knowledge of camera, lighting, and sound equipment. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment; videography skills and familiarity with horticulture are a plus.
