Hiring Salary Range: $38,385-$51,180 Full Salary Range: $38,385 - $63,975 Annually
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 6:30 am-3:00 pm.

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
Greenway and Gardens Supervisor(s) coordinate staff to most effectively and efficiently maintain the horticultural standards expected of a public garden or greenway. The supervisor should constantly evaluate maintenance standards and procedures to meet future development and the needs of other parks facilities. This person will be expected to have a working knowledge of various aspects of horticulture and landscape maintenance including: design, planting, pruning, irrigation, pest/disease management, and the operation of a full range of landscaping equipment including dump truck, front end loader, lawn mower, compact utility loader, chain saw and string trimmer.
This position will be responsible for administering human resources policies for their crew (timecard, leave, evaluations, hiring, termination, training, etc.). The supervisor helps plan and manage facility budgets, including purchasing supplies and equipment. This person will work alongside non-profit partners including Greensboro Beautiful and Action Greensboro, manage numerous volunteers, coordinate events, manage projects and contractors, and ensure the safety of staff and the public.
The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.
High School Diploma/G.E.D
Valid Driver's License
1-3 years prior horticulture experience (i.e. working in a plant nursery, commercial landscaping or public gardens)
North Carolina Pesticide Applicator's License ("OR" the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date)
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
Associate's or higher in Horticulture, Turf Management, Forestry, Botany, or related field
4+ years prior experience in horticultural operations focused on education, botanical gardens, exhibit areas, parks and public grounds, or in the commercial market
Landscape design and/or landscape construction experience
Experience providing educational programming
Outdoor event planning experience
