Job Description 

Job Summary: Gallery Guides are positioned throughout art galleries and other public areas of Denver Botanic Gardens, as needed. Gallery Guide responsibilities include providing direction and wayfinding, location safekeeping, ensuring the safety of all Gardens visitors, problem-solving, responding to and anticipating visitor inquiries, and maintaining excellent service standards at all times. Gallery Guides work to make all visitors feel welcome and well cared for while maintaining a safe and engaging environment.

Career Type: Seasonal

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Employment Requirement:
Denver Botanic Gardens employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All persons offered a position will be required to provide valid proof of vaccination prior to starting employment.

Duties & Responsibilities 

Essential Job Duties:

Provide outstanding customer service to all visitors, staff, and volunteers.
Proactively assess visitor needs to ensure the highest quality of customer service is met.
Able to be on feet for long periods of time.
Handle visitor complaints and provide appropriate solutions. Direct complaints to management as needed.
Follow Denver Botanic Gardens procedures to respond to and report suspicious activity and accidents, injuries, lost families, and other hazardous situations.
Perform assigned tasks such as ensuring artwork is not touched or damaged.
Understand Denver Botanic Gardens safety policies and procedures and perform assigned tasks as required including, but not limited to evacuations and other emergency situations.
Enforce policies and handle difficult situations while remaining poised, respectful, and diplomatic.
Follow established communication and radio procedures, guidelines, and policies.

Other Job Duties:

Act as a positive role model.
Help collect visitor feedback through observational and formal methods.
Assist Visitor Services, Exhibits, and Security staff to ensure safe galleries spaces.
Proactively seek to be knowledgeable about all DBG horticulture, exhibits, programs, and events to reflect the experience and brand at the Gardens.
Perform other duties or special projects as requested by management.

Education and Experience 

High School diploma or GED required. Minimum of one-year customer service experience working in a museum/cultural environment or similar type organization preferred. Must be detail-oriented, flexible, and comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time. Must possess excellent customer service skills and written, spoken communication skills, and strong analytical skills.
