NORFOLK, Va. – May 20, 2026Norfolk Botanical Garden (NBG) has been voted the # 1 Best Butterfly House in the United States through the USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for the second year in a row. Since debuting as a temporary exhibit in 2009, the Butterfly House has become a beloved permanent feature. Now a vibrant, flourishing habitat for native butterfly species, it welcomes over 45,000 guests each year—offering an immersive experience that both educates and delights visitors of all ages.

Surrounding the house is the 2.5-acre Bristow Butterfly Garden, offering an immersive experience for visitors, with a thriving habitat that attracts and supports native butterflies and moths through every stage of their life cycle. Guests can explore dedicated spaces including the swallowtail and monarch nursery, nectar garden, moonlight garden and the popular Butterfly House.
