This Plan is intended to outline plans for preparing for emergencies and for immediate response and short-term recovery efforts in an emergency. In addition, it contains plans for the security of the Arboretum's living and non-living collections and their restoration in the event they are affected by a disaster.
The University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (the “Arboretum”) features approximately 1,200 acres of magnificent gardens and 12.5 miles of garden paths and hiking trails. It is home to dozens of buildings and, as part of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, a variety of research facilities. The property and facilities are used by countless visitors, employees,
volunteers, students and researchers. The Arboretum is committed to assuring that it is a safe place for all who visit or work there and this plan is part of the Arboretum’s ongoing efforts to be prepared for emergencies of any size and to assure that the collections it has been entrusted with are protected.
