Richmond, Virginia – March 12, 2026 – Maymont welcomes gardeners of all experience levels and passions to Richmond’s favorite plant sale: Herbs Galore on Saturday, April 25, from 8am–3pm. With more than 70 nurseries, specialty growers and artisanal product vendors gathered on Maymont’s 6-acre Carriage House Lawn, dedicated gardeners can fill their wagons with everything from herbs, flowers and vegetables to shrubs, native plants and nature-inspired accessories. Vendors are happy to share tips and pointers with plant lovers of all levels, and there will be crafts and activities for all ages.

The day is packed with fun for the whole family — along with shopping for all kinds of plants and natural products, attendees can take a break and enjoy a treat from local food trucks, listen to live music from the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra, participate in talks and Q&As from plant experts, or try several hands-on crafts for all ages. Event admission includes free mini-tours of Maymont Mansion, audio tours of the historic Italian Garden and entry to The Robins Nature Center.

“In honor of 100 years of environmental stewardship at Maymont, we invite everyone at Herbs Galore to get their hands dirty through a special planting project. We will be planting thousands of native perennials along the riparian buffer at Dooley Creek and hope the community will help us by planting one native perennial during their visit,” said Parke Richeson, Maymont President and CEO. “At Herbs Galore, you can find everything from asters to zinnias, and also lend a hand in adding a touch of color to this historic landscape.”

Participating vendors include major nurseries as well as purveyors of tomato plants, easy-to-grow succulents and popular native species, plus vendors of artisanal products like hand-crafted garden accessories and edible treats derived from herbs. For shoppers’ convenience, there is a free plant-check area where attendees can park their purchases while they explore Maymont’s grounds and gardens during peak blooming season. A temporary loading zone near the plant-check makes it easy to load up at the end of the day.

Advance ticket purchase is recommended. Admission is $10 per person, $6 for children (ages 1-16) and seniors (65+), and free for Maymont members and participants in the Museums for All program.* For more information and to purchase tickets, visit Maymont.org. All event proceeds support the nonprofit Maymont Foundation, which cares for Maymont year-round.

*Museums for All participants may reserve free event admission for themselves and up to 3 guests by presenting an EBT card in person on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at The Robins Nature Center or Stone Barn Welcome Center between 10am–5pm, or at check-in on the day of the event.
