KENNETT SQUARE, PA – Longwood Gardens today announced the appointment of Chad Davis as Director of Conservatories and Horticulture Design. The appointment is effective June 13, 2022.

Davis comes to Longwood from Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, where he has served since 2011, his most recent appointment being Deputy Director of Horticultural Operations. While there, he oversaw all horticultural aspects of the conservatories from site preparation and initial planting, to training staff, contractors, and volunteers to care for a diverse collection of Mediterranean, desert and tropical montane forest plants. Prior to his position at Gardens by the Bay, Davis also served as Curator and Horticultural Projects Manager at the Desert Botanical Garden in Arizona where he cared for some of the Garden’s primary succulent plant collections and acted as horticultural projects manager for major renovation projects. Davis received an Associate of Applied Science in Urban Horticulture with an emphasis in Greenhouse Management from Mesa Community College in Arizona, and a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree combining the disciplines of Landscape Design and Urban Horticulture at Arizona State University.

As Director of Conservatories and Horticulture Design, Davis will ensure Longwood continues to create extraordinary horticultural displays for its guests while helping to elevate and drive innovation and creativity across the organization.

“We are thrilled to have Chad as our new Director of Conservatories and Horticulture Design,” said Longwood Gardens Vice President of Horticulture Sharon Loving. “Chad is a creative and respected horticulturist with a unique set of skills in conservatory management, design, and programming that make him the perfect fit for this position.”

“I am honored to be chosen as the Director of Conservatories and Horticulture Design at Longwood Gardens,” said Davis. “Longwood has a reputation for its extraordinary horticulture and standard of excellence, and I am eager to hit the ground running alongside Longwood’s talented team to further elevate and amplify the dynamic displays,” said Davis.
