Robert Bowden recently retired as Executive Director of Leu Gardens, Orlando, after nearly three decades. Earlier in his career he was the Executive Director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Director of Horticulture of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, and Assistant Director of Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island. He is the author of many books including Florida Fruit & Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles and the Florida Top Ten Garden Guide. He also teaches several horticulture classes in the Science Department at Valencia State College.
