Job Description
The Venue Sales Associate is a brand ambassador for the Denver Botanic Gardens representing our unique offerings to all guests and prospective clients. This position is responsible for selling and executing private events held at the Gardens. In addition to working all assigned events, this position will be responsible for leading sales tours of the facility, assisting with the implementation of departmental sales strategies from initial inquiry to close and successful completion of events.

Denver Botanic Gardens is currently seeking a Full Time Venue Sales Associate in our Events Department! Read below to see if the requirements might be a good fit for you:
Salary
$27.83 Per Hour plus up to $30,000 in commission
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures account management, contract negotiation, and achieving revenue goals including on-site sales calls. Responsible for accomplishing and consistently meeting or exceeding established sales goals.
- Serves as an on-site venue representative.
- Is present for the entirety of all assigned functions/rentals, maintains a positive, pro-active, solution-oriented demeanor when responding to or serving clients, members, visitors, and staff.
- Coordinates for client meetings, site visits, walk-throughs, and event execution.
- Coordinates moving assigned sales leads through each stage of the sales process until successful completion of the event.
- Cultivates and maintains positive and professional client and vendor relationships.
- Responds to phone and email inquiries on a daily basis.
- Creates proposals, contracts, and detailed floorplans for clients.
- Ensures the safe and efficient oversight of clients’ events. Independently troubleshoots situations to the satisfaction of the client and within gardens regulation.
- Notifies security and senior management of any unusual circumstances/safety issues that may occur.
- Ensures all events are set properly, per the clients’ contract, and any last-minute adjustments are incorporated to the satisfaction of the client and the Gardens policies.
- Checks and coordinates deliveries are being sent to the correct locations, including but not limited to flowers, liquor, dance floors, tables, and chairs.
- Completes required paperwork at the end of each event. Reports all damage to the property of Denver Botanic Gardens to the Manager of Private Events within the next business day after the event.
- Ensures all event vendors abide by all Denver Botanic Gardens rules including but not limited to kitchen use, clean up and waste removal, and post-event inspection.
- Maintains a satisfactory, positive working relationship with managers, co-workers, clients, and others.
- Ensures all policies and procedures in the Events Department are adhered to.
- Works to ensure the highest quality of visitor experience.
- Works’ aspects of events as assigned including assisting public events.
- Regular attendance at the worksite may be required. As with all positions at Denver Botanic Gardens, the incumbent must be in good performance standing to be eligible for remote work. Remote work is at the discretion of management at all times.

Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have excellent organizational skills and extreme attention to detail along with verbal and customer service skills.
- Ability to learn complex software systems quickly and thoroughly is required.
- Must be comfortable working in an open office environment.
- Must have a flexible schedule with availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event requirements. Event shifts can vary in length and may extend into overtime as needed.
- Ability to manage and organize multiple large events/priorities at the same time.
- Must have proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
- Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations.
- Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans, when necessary, throughout the day.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
- Must be a positive representative of the Gardens both internally and externally at all times.
- Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public.
- Must be committed to working safely at all times.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospitality and/or recreation industry.
- Experience including venue sales and hospitality is preferred.
- Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills required.
Additional Information
Travel:
Up to 10% travel required. Requires the ability to travel to remote locations (or other Garden locations) where environment may vary significantly.
