Job Description

The Seasonal Event Attendant plays a key role in supporting Leach Garden Friends private rentals, garden programming, and visitor services with an emphasis on meeting the mission and values of Leach Garden Friends and creating a welcoming experience for all visitors.

This position requires evening and weekend availability. Shifts may be Monday – Sunday as early as 8:00am to 5:00pm; 3:00pm to 11:00pm for private and public events.

Leach Botanical Garden offers immersive, restorative, and educational experiences in a unique landscape of native plants and horticultural collections to build community, celebrate nature, and inspire environmental stewardship.

Duties & Responsibilities

Main Job Duties
– Understand workflow of events from pre to post-event
– Perform basic parking lot security duties, monitor and report guest parking information, lock gates and restrooms, move signage, monitor event lighting, monitor and report unusual behavior. 75% onsite evening hours
– Performing duties for private and public events onsite including check in, parking, and keeping the parking lots tidy
– Occasional set up and tear down of event furniture, often moving and lifting up to 50 pounds
– Check restrooms for cleanliness and stock as needed
– Check in and guest communications as needed
– Assisting other departments as needed

Education and Experience

Key Skills required:
– Desire to keep Leach clean and accessible
– Strong Written and verbal communication
– Excellent Customer Service, problem solving skills

Qualifications Required:
– Experience with event-related or customer service roles preferred
– Familiarity with communication and desktop publishing software, preferably gSuite
– Event & Entertainment Certification , online training paid by LBG to be obtained after hire date
– Valid Oregon drivers license

– Enthusiasm for providing excellent service to guests, clients, vendors, and volunteers
– The ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment
– The ability to work outdoors for long periods
– Ability to work closely with a small team and be available on walkie talkie at all times

Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the clerical duties of this job, the employee regularly spends long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk and hear. During events the employee may be required to spend hours on their feet. The ability to use the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, control or feel objects. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; anything greater must be done with assistance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee’s work might require them to be outdoors in both hot and cold weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
