Duties & Responsibilities
Longwood Gardens is seeking a full-time Science Communications Specialist to support the demonstration of Longwood’s leadership in plant science and celebrate collaborations at local, national and global levels. This individual will work across the organization to strategically disseminate and leverage Longwood’s intellectual scientific capital in a meaningful and targeted way. Responsibilities include: •Advancing the reputation and impact of Longwood’s scientific program by sharing our intellectual capital through a diverse set of communication channels and forms.
•Supporting Science and Marketing teams by writing and producing content for multiple platforms and audiences related to impact and results.
•Developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
•Supporting the experimental design and data collection for selected science projects.
•Analyzing and interpreting scientific data for a range of audiences.
•Coordinating with the Marketing team to align communication goals and objectives in conjunction with the Science team strategy and accomplishments.
Education and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
•A Master of Science degree in a science related field such as Horticulture, Ecology or Agriculture.
•A minimum of 5 years communicating scientific/technical content across multiple channels and to a range of audiences.
•A minimum of 5 years of experience in a plant-related field, such as Horticulture, Ecology or Agriculture.
•Experience with data analysis and using statistical software.
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
•Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to cultivate professional relationships.
