Position Summary
This position provides support to the Chatfield Farms Public Events Department in the capacity of overall event support. This position works closely with the Chatfield Associate Director and Public Events Manager to ensure smooth public event implementation. Assists with maintenance, set up, clean up, take down, and is on site during all public events. A flexible schedule to include evening and weekend work is required.
Salary
$20.49 – $23.37 – Per Hour

Denver Botanic Gardens is currently seeking a Seasonal Public Events Operations Assistant at our Chatfield Farms location! Read below to see if the requirements might be a good fit for you:
Duties & Responsibilities
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs assigned tasks involving hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and utility vehicles. This includes but not limited to trouble shooting and solving problems with a variety of issues as they arise.
- Helps build and install public event props.
- Provides public event support to include corn and pumpkin field maintenance (clearing and trimming pathways).
- Participates in setting up tables, chairs, signs/banners, tents, trash cans, and umbrellas.
- On site during events to ensure rented equipment is fueled, generators are working properly, trash is discarded, walking trails are maintained during inclement weather, and assist the Public Events Manager as needed.
- Assist prior to and during events, helps direct vendors and assists with vendor set up.
- Notifies the Operations staff, security staff, and Public Events Manager of any unusual circumstances or safety issues.
- Assists with keeping public events tables and chairs clean throughout the event.
- Maintains a satisfactory, positive working relationship with vendors, volunteers, co-workers, security and others.
- Works to ensure the highest quality of visitor experience.
- Regular attendance at the worksite is required.

Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must know how to use and maintain hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, power washer, trailers, and utility vehicles.
- Ability to work in a natural environment including pollen, inclement weather, dirt, wildlife, and rodents.
- Must have proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
- Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations.
- Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans, when necessary, throughout the day.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
- Must be a positive representative of the Gardens both internally and externally at all times.
- Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public.
- Must be committed to working safely at all times.
Education and Experience
High school diploma / GED and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required.
Must have 1 year experience in the operation of hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, trailers, utility vehicles and the ability to trouble shoot, multitask, and solve problems.
Minimum of 1 years of experience in events/hospitality is required.
