Job Description

This position acts as a customer-oriented liaison between the Gardens and the public. It oversees task completion by organizing the daily duties of the Facility Custodial team as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor. The position provides quality checks to ensure all employees complete tasks appropriately, and may act as a mentor and model to other staff.

The position is responsible to clean, maintain and set up public and service areas and equipment for visitors, employees and volunteers, and it ensures a positive presentation of Gardens facilities for visitors and staff. Under general supervision the position performs and maintains the positive internal and external appearance of the Gardens.

Salary

$21.20 – $26.50 per hour

Denver Botanic Gardens is currently seeking a Full Time Lead Gardens Custodian in our Operations Department! Read below to see if the requirements might be a good fit for you:

Duties & Responsibilities

General Duties and Responsibilities

Serves as daily lead to ensure accurate and timely completion of Facility Custodial Technician duties.
Serves as a lead to the staff both in expertise and in work ethic, providing a strong positive example of best practices.
Provides daily report of accomplishments/issues.
Operates pressure washer to ensure all exterior hardscape is clean and free of debris, including mechanical power blower.
Ensures tripping, and/or other safety hazards are immediately reported to supervisor and /or removed as appropriate, following all proper procedures.
Ensures all trash is picked up on the external grounds daily.
Performs quality checks on all custodial and event tasks to ensure satisfactory completion by Facility Custodial Technicians.
Is proficient in floor care equipment and methods.
Participates in the collection of recycled materials, and ensures collections are placed in the proper containers.
Cleans public and office areas, including emptying trash, dusting, vacuuming, windows, etc. to ensure consistently clean and safe presentations.
Participates with snow removal duties.
Assists Facility Custodial Technicians as needed to accomplish event setup, custodial and other tasks.
Maintains a positive, helpful, and solution-oriented demeanor when responding to or serving members, visitors or others.
Attends all meetings “on site” as required.
Regular attendance at the worksite may be required. As with all positions at DBG, the incumbent must be in good performance standing to be eligible for remote work. Remote work is at the discretion of management at all times.
Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have proven excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills in dealing with the public.
Working knowledge of cleaning equipment including burnishers, floor cleaners, street sweepers and/or snow removal equipment preferred.
Ability to maintain stability under pressure and able to deal well with stressful situations.
Ability to be flexible and willing to modify plans, when necessary, throughout the day.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams.
Ability to work overtime as necessary.
Must be a positive representative of DBG both internally and externally at all times.
Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public.
Must be committed to working safely at all times.

Education and Experience

High school diploma / GED and/or combination of education and equivalent experience is required.
Minimum of 1 year of janitorial or light maintenance experience is required.
Proven experience working as part of a team is required.
