About Us
Andalusia Historic House, Gardens, and Arboretum is a non-profit organization and a scenic 50-acre property overlooking the Delaware River in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Established more than 225 years ago, the site is a natural paradise of preserved native woodlands and spectacular gardens, as well as a National Historic Landmark building and museum displaying art and archives. Thousands of visitors explore Andalusia each year during tours, events, and educational programs.
Focused on creating beautiful spaces for the enjoyment of visitors, the Andalusia grounds are comprised of mature trees, formal gardens, mixed perennial beds, a rose garden, cut flower gardens, expansive hedging, meadows, and pastures. The property also has a small greenhouse and solarium. Andalusia is a Level II accredited arboretum with over 250 species and cultivars, as well as a member of America’s Garden Capital.
Andalusia’s garden aesthetics grew out of the English landscape traditions and has evolved to reflect the vision of many residents, staff, and gardeners over the past two centuries. The most recent additions were made by the London based designer Lady Arabella Lennox-Boyd.
