EDSA | Fort Lauderdale, FL preferred (or another EDSA office location) / In-person (non-remote role)

EDSA is seeking a visionary Design Director of Horticulture & Biodiversity to lead planting design strategy and ecological innovation across our global portfolio. This director level, firmwide resource role blends artistic design excellence with deep horticultural and ecological expertise while shaping resilient, biodiverse landscapes at every scale.

Widely recognized for our abilities to lead complex teams in the implementation of holistic and meaningful design, EDSA has been recognized with over 300 professional design awards – honoring our projects for their innovation, power to improve quality of life and ability to stand the test of time.

Duties & Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

Lead planting-driven design concepts from vision through implementation;
Champion biodiversity, climate adaptation, and regenerative planting strategies;
Guide firmwide standards for horticulture, soil health, and ecological performance;
Oversee planting plans and technical development for complex/high-profile projects;
Mentor designers and inspire cross-disciplinary collaboration;
Represent EDSA in publications, conferences, and client engagements.

Education and Experience

What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Ecology, or related field;
10+ years of experience in planting design and biodiversity integration;
Proven leadership on complex, design-forward projects;
Strong portfolio and software proficiency;
Certifications such as RLA, ISA, CPH, LEED AP, or SITES AP preferred;
Ability to travel as needed
