The Houston Botanic Garden is pleased to announce the hiring of Dustin Miller as Senior Director of Learning & Engagement.
Miller, a bilingual public garden and cultural institution leader with more than two decades of experience spanning public gardens, museums, zoos, and K-12 education, will oversee the development of a broad, mission-aligned and sustainable education portfolio that expands participation, strengthens educational impact, and increases engagement.
He joins Houston’s Garden after more than a decade at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, where he advanced through six roles, most recently serving as Vice President of Programs & Learning. There, he provided executive leadership across education, public programs, exhibitions, and horticultural initiatives at an institution serving approximately one million guests annually.
Throughout his career, Miller has focused on connecting people with plants, science, and one another through innovative learning experiences, community partnerships, and engaging public programs. His work has included leadership of the nation’s largest public garden education program, major seasonal festivals and exhibitions, and partnerships with schools, universities, and community organizations.
A frequent presenter with the American Public Gardens Association, Miller holds a master’s degree in anthropology from the University of Texas at Arlington, a graduate certificate in Science & the Public Interface from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and Spanish from Indiana University.
