Schoepfle Garden is part of the Lorain County Metro Parks. Originally the private garden of local newspaper publisher Otto Schoepfle who started it in 1936, today the formal garden encompasses twenty acres of natural walking paths and beds including roses, daylilies, a mixed border, annual color beds, canna and a variety of unique woody specimens from around the world. A children’s garden with a musical theme was added in 2007 with a carousel that operates seasonally. In addition there are 40 acres of natural woodlands and river valley with improved trails to explore. Visitors can stop into the visitor center for maps, restrooms and to visit our seasonal gift shop. The garden is open daily year round 8am – 8pm during the summer and 8 – 4:30 pm during the offseason. Admission is free; check our webpage at www.metroparks.cc for more information including programs and tours throughout the year.
