The six acres of demonstration gardens showcase landscape styles and plants adapted to the area’s Mediterranean climate with its hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Stroll through the gardens for sheer pleasure or for inspiration and ideas to use at home. Discover more than twenty gardens, each with a different focus: a native plant garden, waterfall garden, butterfly garden, sensory herb garden and water conservation garden, to name a few. The premier rose garden displays more than 1,000 roses including hybrid teas, floribundas and David Austin roses. The Gardens are maintained without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. The Gardens are free, wheelchair accessible and open to the public during daylight hours. Self guided and docent tours are available.
