Gardens of the Big Bend is a botanical and teaching garden located on the grounds of the University of Florida/IFAS North Florida Research and Education Center and operated jointly with the nonprofit organization, Gardening Friends of the Big Bend, Inc.

The North Florida Research & Education Center (NFREC) in Quincy is one of the largest and the most diverse units of the University of Florida, consisting of a research and education campus in Quincy, Florida. NFREC has 18 active faculty members representing 8 academic departments. This diversity of faculty, staff and programs provides a unique setting for interdisciplinary work within the NFREC campus, with colleagues on the main UF campus and with faculty at other Centers around the state. The NFREC campus encompasses approximately 1000 acres of irrigated and non-irrigated land including the 25-acre Gardens of the Big Bend and over 300 acres of forest and associated wetlands.
