Landscape Maintenance Supervisor

University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum 

 

U of MN Classification #7149 - Landscape Maintenance Supervisor: Reporting to the Horticulture Manager. -  Chaska, MN

The Landscape Maintenance Supervisor will supervise the maintenance of the grounds, display gardens and plant collections areas at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and Horticultural Research Center, as well as supervise event set-up and management. This position is responsible for 7 day per week operations of the grounds areas and must make sure that employees are scheduled and jobs are completed that are essential to the long term appearance and condition of the Arboretum grounds plus make sure that areas are attractive and safe for visitors at all times

Required Qualifications:   BS degree in Horticulture and two (2) years experience in greenhouse and plant management.  Supervisory experience in a public garden or nursery operations in a diverse, bargaining unit setting.

Preferred Qualifications:    BS in Horticulture and five (5) years relevant experience. Public garden experience including plant collections, display gardens, native plant restorations, garden events and special exhibitions. Familiarity with Minnesota Landscape Arboretum grounds, buildings and programs. Visitor service skills including managing staff in a busy public environment, helping visitors with way finding and event logistics, and conducting tours. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as required.
