Description: Green Spring Gardens is a 31-acre public garden with 1784 Historic House that offers themed gardens for enjoyment, education and inspiration. Visit our website at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/greenspring/.

The intern will assist with all aspects of Children’s Education: planning and conducting plant-based nature programs; gardening and other light physical work; developing teaching aids; creating and maintaining inter-pretive exhibits; and administrative duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Compensation: Interns will be temporary, part-time employees of the Fairfax County Park Authority. Compensation is $10.46/hour for up to 300 hours. Start and end dates are negotiable.

 

Requirements: Preference is given to applicants enrolled in a two or four year education program in environmental educa-tion, horticulture, botany, or a similar degree program. Preferred applicants will have experience and/or commitment to educating children. Internship responsibilities include developing a project proposal, con-ducting project activities, garden maintenance, and presenting a written and oral project report.
