Tyler joined the Association in July 2016. In his role as Plant Protection Program Coordinator he develops outreach materials for the Plant Heroes® youth education program, and interpretive signage about forest health and the impact of plant pests and diseases. Tyler also helps engage our member gardens to be active on the front lines of early detection for these threats by coordinating the Sentinel Plant Network.
Tyler has a B.S. in Natural Resources from Cornell University and an A.A.S. in Plant Science from SUNY Cobleskill. He has worked in horticulture for over 10 years, most recently as a Plant Health Specialist at Cornell Botanic Gardens and a gardener at Celia Thaxter’s Island Garden on the Isles of Shoals, Maine. Tyler is dedicated to promoting plant and forest conservation by enhancing public involvement in the detection of invasive plant pests.
