The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, located approximately 70 miles east of Atlanta, Georgia, is a short drive from downtown Athens. A unit of the University of Georgia's Office of Public Service and Outreach, the State Botanical Garden of Georgia is one of the state's most treasured resources, attracting more than 315,000 guests each year. Admission and parking are free.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia offers over five miles of nature trails, a tropical conservatory and numerous themed display gardens, including the Alice H. Richard’s Children’s Garden, which opened in 2019. The children’s garden immerses children in a fun, hands-on learning experience that celebrates Georgia’s flora, fauna, geography, geology, art and history.

Allow a couple hours to wander the display gardens and gift shop or talk to the volunteer at the welcome desk for don’t-miss suggestions. Custom garden tours are available with reservations and a small fee; contact afischer@uga.edu.
