Mercer Botanic Gardens, located just north of Houston, Texas, is a botanic garden set within over 300 acres of riparian parkland. The Garden maintains noteworthy outdoor collections of azaleas, bamboo, camellias, cycads, gingers, palms, and Texas native plants, along with ever-changing annual floral displays. Mercer is a designated Center for Plant Conservation research and demonstration site.
The Garden offers adjacent picnic and playground areas linked with 5 miles of walking trails. As part of the Harris County Precinct 4 Parks Department, Mercer is open every day except: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. There is no admission charge. The Mercer Society, a 501c3 organization supporting Mercer, organizes numerous events throughout the year and maintains a gift and plant sales shop in the garden.
