This 234-acre public park was acquired by Westchester County in 1986 from the Lasdon family. Since that time the County has been developing it into a diverse botanical, cultural and educational public facility. It contains a number of tree collections, formal gardens, a garden Shop, Veterans Museum, and a number of trails including a stunning veteran’s memorial trail. In June, 2017 the park will complete and open a new Conservatory offering year round botanical exhibits. The park has established cooperative research programs with the American Chestnut Foundation, Cornell Cooperative Extension, SUNY Environmental Science & Forestry College and the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. The park also hosts concerts, horticultural shows and Holiday events.
