Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, located on nearly 300 acres of coastal waterfront, is the largest botanical garden in New England and one of the nation’s few waterfront public gardens. Featuring acres of cultured gardens and miles of woodland trails, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens celebrates native plants and beautiful ornamentals in varied settings, and includes much stonework and many sculptures. The Gardens are home to a range of themed gardens, including: the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children’s Garden, which was inspired by Maine children’s books and includes many areas for learning through play; the Lerner Garden of the Five Senses, in which guests are encouraged to touch, smell, hear, see, and taste their way through and which is completely accessible to people of all abilities; the Giles Rhododendron Garden, which features a waterfall and hundreds of varieties of rhododendron in a woodland setting; and the Vayo Meditation Garden, which offers a place of peace and tranquility along the tidal shoreline. Rated the top public garden in the US by TripAdvisor, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is one of Maine’s top attractions, and is a place for the whole family to enjoy.
