Paul James Teams Up With APGA and Rain Bird
Paul James, The Gardener Guy and host of HGTV's Gardening by the Yard
has been named the National Spokesperson for the first annual National
Public Gardens Day on May 8, 2009.
"I have always felt that America's public gardens are a great source of
inspiration and knowledge for homeowners to apply to their own
residential landscapes," said Paul James. "It is important to recognize
that most public gardens are more than just beautiful places to spend a
Sunday afternoon. They also play an increasingly important role in the
advancement of environmental stewardship, education, and plant and
water conservation within the communities they serve."
As the national spokesperson for National Public Gardens Day, Paul
James will host the campaign's national and regional broadcast public
service announcements as well as participate in a nationwide satellite
media tour in which he will speak one-on-one with national and local
morning news programs about the lessons to be learned by visiting
public gardens.
"Paul's down to earth approach coupled with his commitment to natural
gardening and eco-friendly solutions has not only endeared viewers
since his show first aired in 1996, but has made him one of the most
recognizable gardening personalities among the diverse audiences that
make up the public garden community," said Dan Stark, Executive
Director of the APGA. "We could not think of a more perfect fit for
representing National Public Gardens Day, as the need for more
intelligent landscapes becomes ever more important."
