Price Appointed President of Historic Bok Sanctuary

David M. Price, director of horticulture, has been appointed president of Historic Bok Sanctuary, a Florida icon and National Historic Landmark near Lake Wales, Fla. Price has been director of horticulture at the Sanctuary for nearly 20 years. As President, Price will oversee a staff of 47 full-time employees and administer a $5 million annual operating budget and a five-year capital budget of approximately $4 million.

He has been responsible for generating over $6.5 million in grants for land preservation and plant conservation. He was a founding member and past president of the Green Horizon Land Trust and serves on the Polk County Environmental Lands Review Committee. He has worked as a consultant to historic private and public gardens in Florida. Price is a 1981 graduate of Clemson University in South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Botany. Besides his interest in conservation, Price is an accomplished sculptor and is represented in numerous private and public collections.

As a member of APGA for the past 23 years, Price as served on the Grounds Management Committee, Plant Conservation committee, and the Historic Landscape Committee and has presented at national and regional APGA meetings.

Price and his wife Catherine reside in Lake Wales with their son Stefan.
