The APGA has a number of Standing Committees that are charged with assisting the Association to accomplish its day to day operations. Those Committees play an integral role in ensuring that we are providing the highest quality benefits and services to our members. Below is a list of the Standing Committees. Soon, we will have individual web space for each Committee that will allow them to accomplish their work more effectively and efficiently. If you are interested in participating on any of the Committees described below, please contact Sarah Maietta, Membership Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Awards Committee solicits and evaluates nominations for Honorary Life Membership, Award of Merit, Award for Program Excellence, the Professional Citation, Horticulture Magazine Award for Garden Excellence, and the Dorothy E. Hansel publications award.
The NAPCC committee encourages focused plant collection development in public gardens in order to ensure that unique, genetically diverse, historically important, rare, unusual, and/or threatened collections are maintained.
The APGA has recently begun the development of the Professional Development program for the Association. The Board has approved the creation of a Professional Development Committee that will be forming soon. Check back for more information in the near future.
The Program Selection Committee is responsible for soliciting, developing, reviewing, and evaluating programs (keynote addresses, workshops, sessions, and informal discussion groups, posters) to be presented at the annual conference. Click here to view the 2013 Program Selection Committee.
The Publications Committee supports the Association print publications. Committee members work closely with APGA staff to produce timely, useful materials. Members serve as planners and reviewers for issues of The Public Garden.
