The Conservatory of Flowers

The Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park is seeking horticultural interns to work side-by-side with our experienced horticultural staff. Our internship program is an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in one of the country’s most exciting horticultural museums. The Conservatory features a collection of tropical plants including some of the rarest, oldest, and most endangered plants in the world. The collection highlights palms, orchids, bromeliads, carnivorous plants, and more.
Two internships are available. Interns will be assigned to a horticulturalist to work closely with them in the day-to- day operations of the Conservatory galleries and support greenhouses. Tasks will include: grooming plants, monitoring and identifying pest populations, watering, cleaning debris from the planting beds, transplanting, propagating, and installing new exhibits.
6 hours, one day per week, for one year, including a 30 day trial period.
The internships are open to all active students in horticulture, botany, or plant science who have finished at least one year of course work. Candidates will primarily be interested in careers in greenhouse/nursery management, plant conservation, garden management, taxonomy, commercial plant production, and other related disciplines.
