Position Available: Graphic Designer
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Department: Marketing and Communications
Design and coordinate Arboretum communications and publications from concept to completion under the direction of the Head of Design. Assist in managing the production process of Arboretum communications and publications by developing production schedules, procuring printing bids, and working directly with vendors throughout the production process.
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design required and a minimum of two to four years professional experience working in Adobe Creative Suite and Flash. Fast paced environment, must have ability to multi-task. Work well within a team environment. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and detailed-oriented. Ability to work from design concept to completion. Experienced and proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Microsoft Office, scanning and color correction. Digital photography, basic understanding of HTML5 coding and CMS web experience a plus. Excellent written and studio skills.
Must demonstrate the ability to think and work both strategically and conceptually. Able to work under tight deadlines and to juggle many projects simultaneously. Requires a customer service oriented individual who is able to communicate effectively with a various internal customers and vendors. Must demonstrate a strong interest in acquiring a thorough understanding of the Arboretum, its mission, programs, and staff.
• Work is performed indoors, in an office setting.
• Requires physical activity, i.e. the ability to lift 20 lbs. and walking/driving the Arboretum grounds with photographers.
• Requires some travel, i.e. attending press checks.
