Location: Hockessin, Delaware

Mt. Cuba Center seeks an enthusiastic Education and Research Assistant who will provide excellent skills and services in support of the Education and Research staff. Mt. Cuba Center is a non-profit horticultural organization dedicated to the study, conservation, and appreciation of plants of the Eastern United States, with a particular emphasis on the Piedmont region.

Description: The Education and Research Assistant is responsible for supporting the educational and research programs at Mt. Cuba Center. The Education and Research Assistant helps in scheduling intern activities, intern housing, paperwork and logistics. Other duties include assisting in the administrative activities that sustain continuing education, publications, research and distance learning programs. This position calls for part-time employment, working about 2-3 days per week. As a part-time employee, the hours worked per year must be under 1000.


• Works with education coordinator to support the intern program.
• Supports continuing education classes.
• Participates in the production of the Continuing Education brochure, contracts, and course posting.
• Does administrative tasks necessary for symposiums and accreditation.
• Assists in administrative upkeep of Distance Learning system as needed.
• Lends administrative assistance to research staff as needed.
• Coordinates with visiting scientists, research assistants or graduate students in support of the research mission.

Education, Skills, Qualifications:
• Associates degree in education or related field or equivalent experience required.
• 2+ years’ experience in an education or related role preferred
• Ability and willingness to work weekends, Holidays and special events as needed.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Adobe Products
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with staff and public.
• Exceptional writing, verbal, communication, and organizational skills and a keen attention to detail are essential.

Date Available:  Position immediately available

Compensation:  Hourly rate is commensurate with experience.
