Description:

The Education Coordinator is a part-time position reporting to the Associate Director of Development. The Education Coordinator works with the ADD and DCH program managers to administer, develop and execute the Center’s adult education programs, perform evaluations and centralize adult education calendar offerings.

 

Responsibilities

  • Arrange and schedule the following adult education programs throughout the year:  4 Winter Lecture Series lectures, 8 Horticulture Workshops (2 per quarter), 2 to 4 Day Trips, Copeland Lecture, Annual Meeting and Festive Greens Workshop
  • Coordinate additional mission-focused educational programming
  • Perform pre-event follow up: send email reminders to registrants, mail directions
  • Coordinate and track activities with ADD to develop and support customized fundraising efforts
  • Work with Director of Development and ADD to develop fundraising strategies for applicable programs
  • Work with Communications Coordinator to create Coming Events brochure text and promote events
  • Network to identify collaborative and educational opportunities
  • Provide support for Horticulture Hotline

  • Assume or delete responsibilities based on DCH’s changing needs
  • Respond courteously to telephone calls or visitors when other staff is not available
  • Be available for occasional evening, special event and/or weekend work
  • Understand and adhere to all applicable safety policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the composition of newsletter and the DCH website

 

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a related field
  • Extensive horticultural and gardening knowledge
  • Connections within horticulture network a plus
  • Familiarity to Wilmington and surrounding Tri-State area a plus
  • Project management experience, ability to plan and manage multiple projects with efficiency, attention to detail
  • Access to reliable transportation during working hours
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills, including listening
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven public speaking ability
  • Available for occasional evening and weekend work 
  • Position Available: immediately
