For those who are passionate about gardening, conservation, or working outdoors, there are more professional career options than you ever thought possible.  For over 80 years, the School of Professional Horticulture at The New York Botanical Garden has been training the world’s leading horticulturists.  The School’s two-year curriculum encompasses botany, horticulture, and landscape design with extensive hands-on training.   It is one of few around the world that combines serious academics with real-world horticulture experience, including plant walks, field trips, internships, special lectures and other benefits of being at NYBG.  Working alongside the Garden's Horticulture staff in the unique setting of New York City, where urban innovation is rapidly pushing the field forward, offers students a truly unparalleled horticultural education.  Our students are highly sought after not only for internships but also full-time employment upon graduation.  The School has nearly a 100% rate of job placement in any one of a variety of exciting career paths, from public parks and gardens to private estates all over the world.  You can learn of their experiences in their own words on our website.

Application deadline: August 1, 2013.  Applications are now being accepted for enrollment in January 2014.  


Tuition: $7,000 per year, plus additional expenses for books, equipment, and miscellaneous expenses. 


Financial Aid: The School is eligible and certified by the U.S. Department of Education to administer Title IV funds (Pell grants and Direct loans) to qualified students. Veterans who were in the U.S. Armed Forces may be eligible for benefits, under Title 38, Chapter 35.   The School accepts international applicants under the M-1 visa program.
