Welkinweir is offering a unique 9-month collections management internship for an individual seeking to advance their career in public horticulture. This internship focuses on all aspects of public garden management. Specific opportunities will include hands-on maintenance of the living collection, documentation of the living collection using BG-Base plant records software, plant labeling and mapping, interacting and working with the public and volunteers, managing website and social media, assisting in grant writing and program planning.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a graduate of a four-year college horticulture program. Priority will be given to applicants with a strong interest in public horticulture and in the management and curation of woody plant collections with strong team work ability. Strong written and oral skills a plus; solid computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe CS, Arc GIS, or BG BASE) preferred.
This internship is a nine-month, full time position with a flexible start time and ending December 13, 2013. A bi-monthly stipend and on-site housing is provided; other benefits available.
