MEMBERSHIP AND PHILANTHROPY ASSISANT INTERNSHIP (Stipend)

Job Description

 

Position: Membership and Philanthropy Assistant at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

 

CMBG Mission:  Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is committed to the protection, preservation, and enhancement of the botanical heritage of coastal Maine for people of all ages through horticulture, education, and research. 

 

Internship Mission:  Provide hands-on experience in all aspects of fund development in a small but growing member-based non-profit organization.  This is an opportunity to work behind the scenes in the third most visited non-profit cultural attraction in Maine.  Working directly with the Director of Philanthropy and Manager of Membership and Database Services, the successful intern will learn about membership management, fundraising methods, and donor relations and participate in special projects while supporting the department.

Position Summary:

The Membership and Philanthropy Assistant Internship offers hands-on experience in all facets of running a philanthropy office, including: 

 

w  Assisting in the design, creation, implementation and analysis of various membership initiatives.

w  Assisting the Membership team in daily operations, as well as working on projects to increase office efficiency and donor engagement.

w  Researching a particular topic or focus area of the department.

w  Supporting social media and promotion efforts.

w  Assisting in the planning and implementation of events.

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must demonstrate professional maturity, the ability to learn new information rapidly, and demonstrate a consistent “can do” attitude with strong member and donor relations skills.  He or she must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel, with data entry experience as a plus; have strong verbal and written communication skills; be well organized, dependable, and responsible; and be able to multitask and pay attention to detail.

 

Schedule:

24-30 hours per week are negotiable, though we prefer interns who can be available for the majority of a 9 a.m.-5 p.m. period on two to three business days and at least one weekend day.
