The primary purpose of this full-time position is to help the Assistant Director of Horticulture in the Main Core Garden and Sonoran Desert Nature Trail with maintenance, tree trimming, planting, irrigation and enhancements. When needed, he or she will assist other Horticulture staff members in the maintenance, tree trimming, planting, irrigation, and enhancements for their respective areas. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the installation of new exhibits and display gardens, serving on internal committees and participating in Garden-wide events and projects.
Requirements include advanced knowledge of gardening and irrigation; the ability to lift 60 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions; International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification or 3 years equivalent experience in horticulture, tree trimming; self motivation and the ability to work independently.
