Bok Tower Gardens is currently seeking a passionate, creative, experienced and committed Education Coordinator who is responsible for developing, planning and executing educational programming for all ages, working closely with and reporting to the Director of Visitor Services and Programs. The Gardens exciting curriculum covers interdisciplinary programs, workshops, classes, outreach programs, teacher programs and field trips that are divided into the following categories: Science & Nature, Visual & Performance Arts and Culture & History.
Bok Tower Gardens recently completed a new master site plan that includes expansion and new garden projects for a new Wildlife Florida Garden, Children’s Garden, historical exhibit and interpretive plan. The education department at the Gardens will play a vital role in the fulfillment of programmatic offerings within these new garden aspects. With these new future plans in place, the Gardens also recently entered into an extensive partnership with IFAS (Institute of Food & Agricultural Services) funded through UF. This organization operates the county extension services to teach the public about horticulture, food, agricultural and natural science for everyday life and has an extensive research arm. This partnership stands to benefit the Gardens to positively support the validity, reputation and growth of our education program.
Qualified candidates should have a passion for nature and be able to produce quality, creative, hands-on programming; be comfortable developing, planning and/or teaching programs and events for all ages including gardening, plant, environmental, history, cultural, art and multi-disciplinary programs; working with all ages of BTG staff, volunteers, donors, parents, interns and teachers; coordinate and train volunteers; and, network with the local, school and environmental communities. In addition, they should be efficient, organized, fiscally responsible, and have excellent verbal, written and computer skills.
Qualifications: Bachelor degree required; minimum of (3) three years experience in environmental, public gardens, museum education programming or classroom teaching required; administrative and supervisory experience a plus; We offer competitive wages and an attractive benefits package.
