THE GARDEN CONSERVANCY
Garrison, New York
Posted: Wednesday, September 26, 2012
The Garden Conservancy was established in 1989 by Frank Cabot, the distinguished American gardener. In partnership with individual garden owners as well as public and private organizations, the Conservancy provides the horticultural, technical, management, and financial expertise needed to sustain these fragile environments and ensure long-term stewardship of natural assets so essential to the aesthetic and cultural life of our communities.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President is responsible for the executive leadership and day-to-day management of the Conservancy. The President works closely with and is accountable to the Board in the planning, development and implementation of the vision, mission and goals of the organization for both annual and multi-year components of its strategic agenda. Ongoing collaboration with the boards and management of various private and public gardens is a key component of the position.
We seek a proven leader whose professional career demonstrates a passion for the work of The Garden Conservancy. Experience in building broad partnerships that extend the brand and purpose of an organization similar to the Conservancy would be very beneficial. This would include evidence of innovation and collaboration with other institutions and enterprises in developing programs that increase the impact and reach of the organization.
The person we seek should also demonstrate knowledge of sound organizational management within a nonprofit governing structure including setting and achieving agreed-upon goals with the board. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Leadership and/or participation in regional or national professional or trade associations that relate to the mission of the Conservancy would be a plus. Extensive travel primarily in the U.S. is expected.
To apply, please send a current resume and letter of interest to Kittleman & Associates, LLC at email@example.com. For more information, please visit the Conservancy’s website at www.gardenconservancy.org.
