DESCRIPTION:

Brookside Gardens is a public horticultural display garden owned and operated by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission in Montgomery County, Maryland.  The Gardens welcome over 400,000 visitors annually to its gardens, programs and events.  To learn more about Brookside Gardens, visit our website at www.brooksidegardens.org.

Brookside Gardens is seeking a talented Adult Education Programs Manager.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to plan, organize and supervise educational programs for adults; including classes, workshops, trips, tours, symposiums and special events; publish and distribute program and event guides; schedule, train and coordinate volunteers to support educational programs.
 
Qualified applicants must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, supervisory experience, technical competency with Microsoft Office suite and the ability to accomplish multiple tasks with tight deadlines.

Weekend and evening work may be required.  Experience with horticultural program development or previous work experience at a public garden is desirable.  The individual will report to the Visitor Services Team Leader and work closely with the Visitor Services team to implement strategic and master plan initiatives.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related field; and

2. Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in horticulture or closely related field; or

3. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
4. Valid driver’s license.
